Tshwane hosts African mayorsSTAFF REPORTER
PRETORIA – The City of Tshwane is hosting the 26 African capital city mayors during the African Capital Cities Sustainability Forum which started in Pretoria on Tuesday at the CSIR Convention Centre.
Mayor of Tshwane Kgosientso Ramokgopa addressd local and international guests including 26 African capital city mayors before critical discussions and presentations of Africa’s sustainability.
This year’s Sustainability Week will run from 31 May to 05 June 2016 and boasts 14 remarkable seminars and over-flow sessions aimed at promoting collaborative thinking and development to accelerate the sustainable solutions needed to support rapid economic and population growth.
The forum saw guests being involved in the convoy of African capital city cayors from 25 African Capital Cities being driven in BMW i3 electric vehicles and the Nissan LEAFS which departed from the Lynwood Bridge City Lodge on Wednesday morning and
headed towards the Union Buildings where the mayors spent about 30 minutes before heading to the CSIR ICC. Developed around game-changing technology that delivers real-world range while transforming the experience of driving and owning a car, they’re designed for anyone who believes that the choices they make can truly make a sustainable difference in the world.
The visiting party also toured Tshwane’s sustainablity projects on the next day where they visited Tshwane Food and Energy Centre in
Bronkhorstspruit, Bio gas plant in Bronkhorstspruit, Kwaggasrand Material Recovery Facility, Freedom Park, Freedom Statues in Fountains and Union Buildings.
