Absa Premiership jigsaw solution on Saturday

JOHANNESBURG – THE Absa Premiership relegation jigsaw will be solved on Saturday afternoon with the three sides involved in the dogfight all in action.

Jomo Cosmos, Maritzburg and University of Pretoria face the prospect of automatic axe to the unfashionable National First Division (NFD) after the final round of matches.

Cosmos, who have of late made intermittent traffic between the Absa Premiership and the second tier league, host Maritzburg in a match coach Jomo Sono said would not produce “great game of football” because both sides need a win to survive.

Bottom placed AmaTuks have to win to survive and hope the result between Cosmos and Maritzburg goes their way. Tuks are bottom with 22 points while second-bottom Maritzburg have 24. Cosmos sit on 25.

The team which finishes on 15th position will be involved in Premiership play-offs against two teams from NFD who would have finished second and third respectively, which in this case are most likely to be Highlands Park and Mbombela United.

Only incoming champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest wits, Platinum Stars and Kaizer Chiefs have sealed their places.
