ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Nigeria Oil and Gas (NOG) Conference and Exhibition has been deferred to next year owing to prevailing challenges in the sector.

The event was initially scheduled for next month but has been moved to February 27 to March 2.

President Muhammadu Buhari was scheduled to officially open the NOG in Abuja.

“After carefully considering the feedback from the industry and Government Parastatals and taking into account the economic situation in the oil and gas industry, it has been decided that NOG will be moved,” said Wemimo Oyelana, spokesperson of the organisers.

Oyelanna said the “difficult” decision was made in the best interests of clients, participants, the Federal Government of Nigeria and NOG event itself.

“We believe this date change back to NOG’s traditional February spot will provide a better event.”

Nigeria’s petroleum industry is beset by a number of problems ranging from falling international prices for the commodity and shortages locally.
