Former Zim president’s son to challenge Mugabe rule

HARARE, (CAJ News) – NATHAN Banana (49), son of the late former Zimbabwean President, Canaan Banana, has announced his intention to contest the 2018 elections.

Banana’s Freedom Justice Coalition of Zimbabwe (FJCZ), which will be officially launched in June.

Unknown in Zimbabwean politics Banana said he would like to contest the elections to ensure a new political dispensation in the economically-troubled.

He is the third-born child of the first President of the first President of Zimbabwe at attainment of independence from Britain in 1980.

Banana announced his intentions on Tuesday but conceded wrestling ZANU (PF) from power would be a challenge.

The ambitious politician said party structures for FJCZ had been established through Zimbabwe.

He cited undisclosed political parties willing to join forces.

A number of parties have emerged in recent months in an effort to dislodge President Robert Mugabe’s party from power.

Among these are the Zimbabwe people First, formed by Mugabe’s former deputy, Joice Mujuru, who was expelled from the party after accusations of plotting a coup against Mugabe.
