NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – A two-day Ministerial Retreat to discuss prevailing issues in the continent has kicked off in Kenya.

The event in Nairobi follows a decision of the African Union Heads of State and Government who directed the AU Commission at their Summit in January 2016, to organize another retreat “to allow for in-depth discussion on the paradox of rich Africa, poor Africans, on changing mind-set and other relevant issues.”

“In the coming two days, we shall engage each other in exploring this paradox in the light of the envisioned Agenda 2063, and the restructuring of the African Union, among other issues.

Our deliberations and outcomes will have the effect of shaping the future of our continent and individual nations,” stressed Amina Mohamed, Kenya Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

She invited her colleagues to create time during the retreat to experience the rich culture, cuisine, flora and fauna, of her country as well as visit the National Archives, the National Park and the National Museum of Kenya, among other historical areas.

“Nairobi, the host city for this retreat, is part of the larger rich heritage that our country holds in trust for humanity.”
