Gamers contend for eProteas berths

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) , – HOSTS Tuks are upbeat ahead of the Mind Sports South Africa 33rd MWEB Gauteng Championships.

The tournament will provide a platform for players to compete for spots in the national team, the Proteas, for the International e-Sports Federation IeSF World Championships.

“Tuks Mind Sports will look to be a top performer at this year’s Gauteng Championships and will look to focus on training and growing our players to compete for spots on the national teams,” says Johan Uys, Chairperson of Tuks Mind Sports.

Interest in e-sports has grown exponentially locally in line with trends noted globally.

Colin Webster, MSSA General Secretary, confirms the Gauteng Championships is open to all players.

Gamers are set to contest in Starcraft II, Pro Evolution Soccer, League of Legends, Hearthstone and Ultra Street Fighter.
