LAGOS, (CAJ News) – THE United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID) has been commended for facilitating the exploitation of investment opportunities in Nigeria ‘s Kano state.

The opportunities are explored under the auspices of the state’s Investment Promotion Agency.

Ganduje noted with satisfaction the internal agency was working with his administration towards revolutionising tax management, leading to the restructuring of the state Internal Revenue Service.

“With the support of DFID, we were able to put in place the conditional cash grant scheme to poor families, which has enabled their female children to attend school,” he added.

Ganduje told a team of Parliamentarians from the United Kingdom his government was working out plans to build a youth development centre in the state to help the youths become self reliant.

He said discussions were on with some investors to provide alternative energy, which would propel small and medium scale businesses that will help in opening up job opportunities.

Ganduje however mentioned the state had a challenge in the area of community health.

He also requested the support of the international agency to support the government address the issue of facilities and development in the sector.
