Hope retained Chibok girls will be rescued
From OKORO CHINEDU in Lagos, Nigeria
LAGOS, (CAJ News) – RECENT breakthroughs by uniformed forces in freeing some kidnapped minors have enhanced hope among the Bring Back our Girls Group (BBOG) the more than 200 schoolgirls abducted in Chibok, Bono State would be rescued.
Officials from the BBOG expressed confidence as the group marked 100 weeks since the Boko Haram sect kidnapped the schoolchildren.
The group noted that following the rescue of a minor who was abducted and forced to marriage in Bayelsa State as well as Ikorodu school girls in Lagos State, the Nigeria Police Force last week rescued two girls in Bauchi State who had been kidnapped and forcefully converted to Islam.
“We hold on to hope that like these three successful rescue operations, the Chibok girls will also be found,” BBOG said.
Operations to rescue the Chibok schoolgirls have not borne fruit thus far.
BBOG is holding some daily sessions in Abuja and weekly ones in Lagos and Osogbo to raise the plight of the girls.
Last week, group founder and former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, was honoured with the African Woman Award in Civil Society for her steadfast belief the Chibok girls would eventually be freed.
