CAPE TOWN, (CAJ News) – THE shortlist of nominees for the second Zimbabwe Excellence Awards, scheduled for Cape Town in South Africa, has been announced.
The awards are scheduled for April 2 in the coastal city.
Entrants will compete for ten awards, including the Palmer T Vushe Entertainment Personality of the Year award, renamed after the late entertainer who passed away after a short illness in February, aged 21.
He was youngest nominee of the same category.
Cape Town based businessman, Julius Shamu, initiated the Zimbabwe Excellence Awards last year to recognise and acknowledge the Zimbabweans based in South Africa who are flying the Zimbabwean and South African flags high.
The idea is mainly to encourage a spirit of togetherness and recognition and mostly for motivation and inspiration to the rest of the community.
“As Africans we should not try and sabotage each other. We should not try and put each other down. We should embrace each other, support each other and embrace diversity and unity, only then we can emancipate ourselves,” said Shamu.
There are more categories to make the awards more representative.
Such categories include Directors award for best matriculants, the Young Upcoming Entrepreneur of the Year as well as the Music/Artist/Group of the Year.
Sponsors to the event include ACT Foods, AV Studios, Ethelic Boutique, Impress Clothing, Maps Graphics, Mukuru Money Transfer, Shamstone Production, Standard Film and Uhuru Training.
