MTN marks Women’s Day in Rwanda

KIGALI, (CAJ News) – MTN Rwanda has commended the efforts of all female employees and women in Rwanda who continue to work hard to bring economic, political and social achievements to the forefront in the country.
The mobile operator said these helped drive the country’s development.
In recognition of Rwandan Women, MTN on Tuesday held a special Women’s Day discussion under the theme “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality.”
The event was held at MTN Headquarters in Nyarutarama.
“This year, as the rest of the world celebrates the annual International Women’s Day, we felt it befitting to invite both female and male leaders from different spheres to engage in a discussion with MTN staff and in sodoing, act as positive influencers,” said General Manager of Corporate Affairs and Human Resources, Mary Asiimwe.
Among officials that attended the event included the Parliament Representative, Tengera Francesca, National Police Representative, Badege Theosand, The Director of Gender Promotion Goretti Mwenzangu, as well as the Visa Rwanda Country Manager and Women in ICT Network delegate, Lucy Mbabazi.
“Women do not have lots of role models in the technology field so we need to set great examples for our children, beginning now,” said Mbabazi.
