Nigeria Army in solidarity with families of late soldiers

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Nigeria Army will sponsor the education of children of soldiers who lost their lives during the counter-insurgency operations in the country’s North East, senior official assured.

Chief of Administration Army, Major General Adamu Abubakar, made the pledge during the presentation of the Group Life Assurance cheques to the next of kins of each of the bereaved families at the Army Headquarters recently.

Abubakar, who represented Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, said the cheques were to provide succour to the bereaved families to cushion the economic impact caused by the loss of their breadwinners.

Abubakar said in addition to the cheques, the Army would sponsor four children each of the bereaved families, from primary  up to tertiary level of education.

He said the Army was commitment to alleviating the plight of the affected families.

Hundreds of soldiers have been killed during operations against the Boko Haram sect.
