SAA announces new check-in schedule

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – SOUTH African Airways (SAA) customers will with effect from April arrive earlier to check-in for their domestic flights.

Previously, SAA closed all domestic flights for check-in 30 minutes before boarding.

This has been changed to 40 minutes before departure for all SAA’s domestic flights from Johannesburg to Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and East London.

“The reason for closing flights earlier is to allow the airline to conclude all departure procedures timeously especially those relating to  baggage, so that our customers may not be inconvenienced by possibly travelling with their baggage left behind,” said Tlali Tlali, SAA Spokesperson.

“We have realised that a significant number of short shipment cases on our domestic sectors emanate from late check-in and we trust that the new measures will go a long way in addressing the situation,” said Tlali.

This change will only apply to departures to other domestic stations within South Africa from Johannesburg.
