Biafra youth congress goes ahead

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL) has reiterated need to proceed with its proposed international congress slated for Saturday.

The event is scheduled for the ancient town of Ikom, Cross River Region.

“The only way to determine the wishes of the people is through referendum,” said President of the BNYL, Chimezie Obuka.

The organisation is currently agitating for an independent state of Biafra from Nigeria.

He added the Ibibio people of Itu, Akwa Ibom also welcomed the idea of an international congress stating that the various ethnic groups and allied groups needs to come together to forge a common front.

BNYL meanwhile said it had made in roads into former British Southern Cameroon, allying with Rufasca-Ambazonia, a group pushing for independence of the people of Southern Cameroon.
