Glocell acquires Cell C subscriber base

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THE Competition Commission of South Africa has approved GloCell’s acquisition of Autopage’s Cell C subscriber base as well as Cell C’s intent to appoint GloCell Service Provider as the entrusted licenced partner.
Alessandro Mariola, Founder and Managing Director of GloCell, confirmed the breakthrough.
“We are naturally pleased that the competition’s commission has ruled in favour of the transaction and we look forward to delivering new ground-breaking personalised service to our subscribers and their
families, also better value,” said Mariola.
Established in 2001, GloCell is a R5 billion a year independent cellular telecommunications group operating in South Africa, with Investec as major shareholders, and which specialises in the provision of Cell C contracts, as well as the distribution of all network prepaid and virtual products to
banks, petroleum companies, major retailers, wholesalers and emerging markets.
Mariola said GloCell was in the process of taking over and rebranding many of Autopage’s outlets nationally, upgrading these to become ‘experience’ stores and rebranding them GloCell.
“GloCell has instilled a culture of accountability with its staff and one of enhanced service for our customers so we look forward to extending this to our new family of Autopage subscribers who join us.”
