Soweto derby ends in another draw
by MTHULISI SIBANDA
JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THE Soweto derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates has ended one-all at the First National Bank Stadium.
In-form midfielder Willard Katsande gave Chiefs the lead in the 28th minute when he finished unmarked inside the box following a setpiece.
The game however swung in Pirates favour as they raided the Chiefs area with a some promising play.
National team goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune, was however at his best to keep Pirates out.
Pressure paid off for Pirates as they levelled through Thamsanqa Gabuza, who headed home brilliantly from a long thrown in the 68th minute.
This spelt the end to the participation of Khune as was injured during the aerial action.
The game offered nothing more to write home about except the two Soweto giants remain under pressure for maximum points.
They will meet in a few weeks in a Nedbank Cup Last 32 fixture
