Search on for KZN cops killers


DURBAN, (CAJ News) – THE KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, has condemned the incessant killing of police officers in South Africa ‘s coastal province.

Two officers have been killed in less than a week.

On Sunday, Constable Sibongiseni Mnguni (40), was shot and killed at Isipingo area while off duty.

It is reported at about 07h35, the victim was in his vehicle at Parsadhand Sayan Road when he was approached by the suspect who shot him in the head.

He was rushed to hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The suspect fled the scene on foot.

A case of murder was opened at Isipingo police station for further investigation.No arrest had been made.The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage.

“I strongly condemn the killing of yet another police officer in theprovince. I want to send condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Constable Mnguni,” said Ngobeni.

This past weekend, KwaZulu-Natal police launched a man hunt for a suspected hijacker who shot and killed a police officer and a security guard.

“The Hawks has been tasked to investigate these two incidents and we areappealing to anyone who might have information about the whereabouts ofthe suspects to come forward with information that will lead to the orcontact any local police station or our Crime Stop number 08600 10111,”said Ngobeni.
