Airspace agency tasks aviators on accuracy of data

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) hascharged the Aviation Statistical Committee to ensure data produced on airtransportation is credible, reliable and harmonised in order to meetinternational best practices.

The committee operates under the Federal Ministry of Transport.NAMA Managing Director, Engineer Ibrahim Abdulsalam, gave the charge during a key-note address at the second meeting of the AviationStatistical Committee for the year 2015, which held in Otta, Ogun State.

He maintained that a dynamic Nigerian aviation industry also requiredtimely, reliable and accurate statistical data for effective planning soas to enhance safety of the nation’s airspace.Abdulsalam assured that all the agency’s Air Traffic Management systemswere operating at optimal levels.

“The safety of the nation’s airspace has resulted in more airlines andflights operating in and out of the country in the last five years,”Abdulsalam said Chairman of the committee Mandu Adedoy in advised members of the aviation committee to come up with a mechanism that would enhance statisticaldevelopment to effectively meet the needs of local and international users.
