Orlando Pirates players celebrate victory over Al AhlyBy TINTSWALO BALOYI

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THE Premier Soccer League (PSL) is backing Orlando Pirates for success in this weekend Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederations Cup.

The South African side plays home team Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia in the decider on Sunday.

The sides played to a one-all draw last Saturday in the first leg.

“On behalf of the clubs and our members, we would like to wish Orlando Pirates the best of luck in the CAF Confederations Cup match in Tunisia. We know it is not going to be easy for them but they have shown a resilient fighting spirit throughout this campaign. I’m therefore confident that they can come back home with the trophy,” said Acting PSL Chief Executive Officer, Mato Madlala.

Madlala said it was important for PSL clubs to do well in continental championships.

“As the PSL, we have done well in establishing a strong league financially. What we need now is to be competitive and dominant with our football within the African continent. We must support our clubs playing in CAF competitions. I know this is something very close to the heart of the PSL chairman, Dr Khoza and the Executive Committee,” she said.
