UK warns of Kenya job advert scam

Scam-Alert fraudulent job employeesFrom MARIA MACHARIA in Nairobi, Kenya

NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – THE British High Commission in Kenya has alerted members of the public to a fraudulent advertisement suggesting it was recruiting for a position at the organisation.

The Commission reported it had come to its attention that there is false advertisement for the role of Office Assistant currently circulating with the aim of tricking would-be applicants into sending them money in the guise of an administration fee.

“We do not know what the source is but can confirm that we are not currently advertising for this position and we have reported this to the Diplomatic Police for them to take action,” the Commission stated on Tuesday.

Distancing itself from the exercise, the British High Commission said it advertised all vacancies in its website.

Members of the public that have fallen victim to this scam have been advised to report to the Diplomatic Police.
