Nominees announced for West Africa Power awards

LAGOS, (CAJ News) – SOME of the region’s most successful power professionals and innovative projects have been announced as finalists for the West African Power Industry Awards.
The awards event is scheduled for next week in Lagos.
Among those nominated are Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Eko Electricity Distribution and Joseph Makoju, Honorary Advisor for the Dangote Group.
They have both made the shortlist for the Lifetime Achievement Regional Award, while Akon Lighting Africa stands a chance to win two awards, being finalists in the Best Renewable Energy project and CSR Initiative of the Year categories.
The second edition of the coveted awards gala dinner will celebrate industry pioneers and companies in seven different categories and forms part of the West African Power Industry Convention (WAPIC) in Lagos.
During the 12th edition of this long running, regional conference and expo, WAPIC will once again gather government, utilities, consultants and investors to discuss the challenges of local markets, capacity
building and investment.
The celebrated Chief Executive Officer of Seplat Petroleum Development Company, Austin Avuru, will address the opening session of the event on Tuesday.
Among other nominations are for Power Transaction of the Year, Excellence in Power Generation, Best Renewable Energy Project, Best Off-Grid Electrification Project, CSR Initiative of the Year and Excellence in Power Transmission or Distribution.
WAPIC is enjoying overwhelming support from the industry.
