JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – KAZER Chiefs have secured a berth in the final of the Telkom Knockout (TKO) final after a penalty shootout victory over Orlando Pirates at the First National Bank Stadium.
Chiefs gained some measure of revenge with a 6-5 win.
The two teams were inseparable during 90 minutes, settling for a goalless draw.
However, Pirates would feel they could have secured a win after creating a plethora of chances only to be denied by excellent goalkeeping by Brilliant Khuzwayo.
They would eventually rue the missed chances.
Chiefs on the other hand showed vast improvements from last week’s showing at the same venue where they lost 3-1 to their Soweto rivals, with Hendrick Ekstein posing danger each time on the ball.
The goals were also elusive in extra time prompting a shootout.
Siphiwe Tshabala, Willard Katsande, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Lorenzo Gordinho, Tshepo Masilela and Lucky Baloyi scored for Chiefs while Siphelele Mthembu missed.
For Pirates, Thabo Matlaba, Menzi Masuku, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Gift Mothupha, and Issa Sarr were on target while Thandani Ntshumayelo and Siyabonga Sangweni were villains.
Chiefs will playe the winner of the other semifinal featuring Mamelodi Sundowns and Supersport United in the final on December 16.
