JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – ON-FORM Bidvest Wits Football Club have a glorious opportunity of shooting to the top of the ABSA Premiership log when they host struggling Jomo Cosmos this weekend.

Kickoff is 18:00hrs at Bidvest Stadium in Braamfontein on Sunday.

Bubbling with confidence from thrashing the then log leaders Platinum Stars, whom they bashed 4-0 on Wednesday in Rustenburg, Wits look certain to capitalise on home advantage and exploiting the visitors’ poor start to life back in the elite league.

The Clever Boys are second on the premiership table with 20 points as current log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

They however boast a game in hand and thus will move to the top by simply avoiding defeat against a side wallowing in 14th.

Sundowns are inactive in the league this weekend, which further boosts Wits’ prospects.

Meanwhile, in another match scheduled for Sunday, the two sides occupying the relegation places, Maritzburg United and University of Pretoria clash at the Tuks Stadium in Pretoria.

The sides are 16th and 15th respectively.

Kickoff is 15:30hrs.

The Telkom Knockout semifinals will dominate proceedings on Saturday.

Orlando Pirates, who edged Ajax Cape Town 2-1 in Cape Town, will be fighting it out with their perennial rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

The derby Telkom match kicks-off at 15:00hrs at FNB Stadium.

SuperSport United and Sundowns will contest the other Tshwane semifinal derby at 20:15hrs at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in the capital.
