Nigerian Army undettered by Independence Day bombings

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – NIGERIANS in areas affected by suicide bomb attacks have been urged to remain calm as the Army was making strides against the insurgents.

Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, assured civilians the Boko Haram terrorists would not succeed in reversing the gains being made in the pursuit of peace and security.

“We would like to appeal to the people especially the residents of the affected areas to calm and continue to be very vigilant and security
conscious aseverything necessary is being done to secure their lives and properties,” Usman said.

The assurance comes four suspected Boko Haram suicide bombers detonated their vests simultaneously at Sajeri in Maiduguri late on Independence

Some 14 people, including the suicide bombers, were killed and 39 people were wounded in the attacks.

Troops, security and emergency management agencies have been mobilized to the location.
