CAPE TOWN, (CAJ News) – MUSIC followers in neighbouring South Africa are in for a treat when Zimbabwe gospel sensation, Matthias Mhere, performs in Cape Town.
The Masvingo-born star is billed to perform at AGS Bellville, an Apostolic Church in the coastal city.
Mhere, who is fresh from a tour of the United States and Canada, promised fans a memorable show.
This is on the back of the commendable reception of his latest album, Glory to Glory.
It is currently enjoying massive airplay on stations and is a favourite among households.
“People have received the album very well,” the 27-year-old told CAJ News ahead of his tour of Cape Town.
He is marking a return to the Mother City having curtain-raised for veteran countryman, Leonard Zhakata.
“This is a good opportunity to market Glory to Glory in Cape Town,” said Mhere.
Songs to look out for during his show, he said, include “Ephiziba”, “Tsano Handei” and “Pahushamwari.”
On the other hand Mhere’s latest offering, which has songs like “Number Busy”, “Sahwira” and “Ziya Rangu ” is also doing well on the local market.
“These are some of the people’s favourites,” he said.
Old numbers like “Favour”, “Chipostori” and “Areka” are still a hit with some fans.
Mhere, who will tour United Kingdom after his Cape Town performance, share the stage with city-based Pastor Lavy Mlilo and Edmore Mazungunye in Bellville.
Show organisers promise a memorable show.
“This is the biggest gospel show this year in Cape Town. All is set for the show and we are expecting fireworks. This is a family show that seeks to bring people together and enjoy while praising,” said Victor Chipato of Silver Promotions.
