Power utility reports no load shedding today

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – LOAD shedding is now a thing of the past, if the improving power supplies are anything to go by.

On Friday, Eskom, the power utility highlighted that it had almost been five weeks since it last load shed.

“The power system is currently stable making the risk of load shedding low today,” the company stated.

It noted that in summer, the demand for electricity is high for most of the day predominantly due to the increased usage of air-conditioners, geysers and pool pumps.

However, it is important for consumers to continue to reduce their electricity consumption during summer too and to remember the call to “Live Lightly”.

“We urge our customers to make a positive difference by reducing their electricity usage at home and at the office and to encourage their friends and family to do the same” said the company ahead of the weekend.

It said it would continue providing regular updates on the status of the power system through all the media platforms.
