Nigerian Army intensifies efforts to eliminate Boko Haram extremists

LAGOS, (CAJ News) – THE Nigerian Army announced it has retaken theeconomic and strategic town of Gamboru Ngala in Borno State from the Boko Haram terrorists group.

Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director Army Public Relations,confirmed the breakthrough.“The triumphant troops are now busy with clearing and mopping up patrols,”he said.

No further details had been made available at the time of going to press.On the night of 5-6 May 2014, Boko Haram militants attacked the twin town,killing roughly 310 residents in the 12-hour attack.

The town was largely destroyed and most of the survivors fled toneighbouring Cameroon.
