SA latest to ensure Africa’s IAAF dominance

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – SOUTH Africa has just joined fellow African countries in the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships medals table as the continent maintains its dominance of the games in China.

The Southern African country joins Kenya, Ethiopia and Eritrea in the top ten of the global track and field championships in Beijing.

Kenya lead the world with six gold medals, three silver and two bronze, while Ethiopia are on seventh position with a gold and two silver.

South Africa and Eritrea share tenth position after winning gold medals each.

They are tied with Colombia, Czech Republic and Spain, all with a gold each.

Other African teams have struggled, with Egypt and Tunisia tied on 17th position and Uganda on 25th.

Meanwhile, Great Britain are on second spot with three gold, Jamaica on third position with two gold and a bronze while Cuba are fourth with two gold while.

The United States of America are fifth with only two gold.

Germany sit on sixth with a gold, two silver and two bronze.
