The meeting will be held under the Centenary Convention of the Association of Municipal Electricity Utilities of Southern Africa (AMEU) at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg between 4 October and 7 October under the theme: Alternative Trajectories Towards the SA Electricity Regime.
The City of Johannesburg will be partnering with City Power to host the event.
“We are pleased to mark the historic conference which will discuss the pivotal issues affecting the electricity sector in South Africa. We are looking forward to the insightful deliberations on a range of issues that hamper the development of the sector and we remain confident that the outcomes of this conference will outline a roadmap that will chart the way forward for the industry,” said Sicelo Xulu, President of the AMEU.
Delegates will discuss a number of topical issues affecting the industry including alternative energy sources, load shedding mitigating plans, cable theft, smart grids and electricity losses.
Senior government representatives will also address the conference, including local Ministers of Energy and Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs.
They are expected to address the conference.
