Troops kill fleeing Boko Haram terrorists
From AUGUSTINE OSAYANDE in Abuja, NigeriaABUJA, (CAJ News) – TROOPS from the 26 Task Force Brigade in Gwoza, Borno State have killed an unspecified number of insurgents, discovered weapons and destroyed vehicles belonging to terrorists fleeing the Sambisa forest.
The terrorists are escaping following continued aerial bombardment by the Nigerian Air Force.
The fleeing terrorists were said to be in seven pick up vans and some motorcycles mounted with assorted weapons such as Rocket Propelled Grenades and Anti-Aircraft guns.
Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, said the insurgents “were decisively dealt with.”
“Quite a number” of them were killed. The troops also destroyed their vehicles, weapons and motorcycles. They also recovered a vehicle, a motorcycle and two AK47 riffles and large quantities of 7.62mm NATO and 12.7mm ammunition.
“The troops have intensified their patrols and offensive actions against the terrorists in the area,” Usman said.
