Kenya’s Sum targets China and Swiss gold

NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – KENYA’S 800-metre world champion, Eunice Sum, is
targeting honours in the forthcoming Beijing Championship, which begin in
China this weekend, as well as the Diamond League schedule for Zurich,
Switzerland in September.

She however faces stiff competition from Cuba’s Rose Mary Almanza, United
Satess Ajee Wilson and Germany’s Fabienne Kohlmann in her endeavors.

She is part of a competitive side Kenya has named for the Beijing event
alongside Maureen Jelagat and Joyce Zakari who are going for the 400m.

In the 1 500m, the East Africa country has named Nancy Chepkwemoi, Faith
Kipyegon and Violah Lagat while Irene Cheptai, Mercy Cherono, Viola
Kibiwot and Janet Kisa will represent Kenya in the 5 000m.

In the gruelling 10 000m, Kenya confirmed Vivian Cheruiyot, Sally Kipyego
and Betsy Saina alongside Visiline Jepkesho, Edna Kiplagat, Helah Kiprop
and Jemimah Sumgong.

A strong team for the 3 000m steeplechase will comprise Rosefline
Chepngetich, Hyvin Jepkemoi, Virginia Nyambura while Francisca Koki goes
for the 400m hurdles.
