Gor maintains Kenya Premiership leadership

Gor Mahia vs city starsFrom MARIA MACHARIA in Nairobi, Kenya
NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – CHAMPIONS Gor Mahia have maintained their healthy lead atop the Kenya Premier League (KPL).

This follows their emphatic 3 – 1 win over City Stars at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

Gor Mahia are now nine points clear of second-placed Ulinzi Stars.

However, the highlight of the weekend came as mid-table placed Ushuru Football Club, shocked Mathare United 3-1 in a thrilling encounter also at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

The result forced Mathare United head coach, Stanley Okumbi to resign from the post.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Tusker drew 1-1 with KCB at the same stadium while relegation threatened Chemelil Sugar played to a goalless draw at Moi Kisumu on Saturday.

In other matches played on Saturday, Thika United lost 2-1 to Bandari in a match played at Thika Stadium while Muhoroni Youth narrowly beat Western Stima 1-0 at the Moi Kisumu Stadium to complete the weekend Premiership matches.
