Risk of load shedding on Friday

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THERE is a risk of load shedding on Friday evening although the power system is currently stable.

The stability would enable Eskom perform maintenance without load shedding.

The risk of load shedding remains during the evening peak period (5pm–9pm) when the demand for electricity increases.

However, Eskom said it would inform customers should the possibility of load shedding intensify

Eskom reported it had been able to perform maintenance without load shedding for five consecutive days.

“This is in line with the company’s position to only resort to rotational load shedding in order to protect the power system and also to create space for critical maintenance,” Eskom said.

It said its aim was to meet the country’s electricity needs and maintain its power generating units with minimal or no load shedding.
