Power cuts likely on Thursday

Eskom rules load shedding on Thursday

Eskom rules load shedding on Thursday

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THERE is possibility of Eskom implementing load shedding on Thursday evening despite the power system being currently stable.

The risk remains during the evening peak period, which is between 5pm and 9pm, when the demand for electricity increases.

However, Eskom will inform customers should the possibility of load shedding intensify, the company said.

Eskom said it had been able to perform maintenance without load shedding for four consecutive days.

This is in line with the company’s position to only resort to rotational load shedding in order to protect the power system and also to create space for critical maintenance.

Eskom’s aim is to meet the country’s electricity needs and maintain its power generating units with minimal or no load shedding, the firm stated.

It appealed to customers to continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods from 6am and 10 am as well as between 5pm and 10 pm.
