Power system further stabilizes: Eskom

Power utility reports no load shedding today

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – ESKOM, the power utility has ruled out any blackouts on Friday saying the power system was currently stable.

This would enable it to perform maintenance unhindered.

However, as a result of increased electricity demand in the evening and power stations’ units being on maintenance, the power system is expected to be constrained during the evening peak period.

The period is between 5pm and 9pm.

“As we are currently experiencing cold weather conditions across the country, we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm,” Eskom advised.

In winter the electricity demand peaks in the morning and evening as more electricity is used during peak periods.

“We appeal to all our customers to continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods,” Eskom appealed.

The morning peak period is between 6am and 10am.
