NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – KENYAN athletes are confident of dominating the upcoming International Association of Athletics Federations‎ (IAAF) World Championships at the expense of their Ethiopian rivals.

Ahead of the event planned for Beijing, China on August 22-30, the athletes have also challenged world champion, Mo Farah.

Ethiopia’s Farah is currently rated as both middle and long distance athlete with the best run in the world and is thus expected to give Kenyans hard time in the main
10 000m race.

However, Kenya’s World Cross and World Half Marathon champion, Geoffrey Kipsang Kamworor, has openly declared that the Kenyan team for the 10 000m marathon race were aiming to outpace Ethiopians.

Kamworor singled out Farah as a real threat. Kamworor will lead the Kenyan squad comprising Charles Kamathi, Bedan Karoki and Paul Tanui for the Beijing IAAF’s bilstering 10,000m race saying all the four Kenyans had won top global accolades.

While Kamworor was worried about Farah, Ethiopia has a strong team prepared to collect major accolades in almost all middle and long distance races scheduled for Beijing.

“I think with the support of Karoki and Tanui, we can terribly beat Farah. If we all make the team, then we can see how we can help each other in ensuring we bring the title home,” Kamworor said.

“Winning the title will be a glorious moment to the nation at large and the athletics fraternity.”

Meanwhile, Ethiopia’s iconic girl, Genzebe Dibaba, is in brilliant form while her compatriots- Mohammed Aman and teenager Yomif Kejelcha-are also on fire to give
Kenyans and other rivals a torrid time in Beijing.

Dibaba, who appears unstoppable in both middle and long distance races.

Of late, she has been breaking world records.

Perennial favourites Kenya and Ethiopia have one of the fiercest rivalries in world sport.
