HARARE, (CAJ News) – ZIMBABWE’S Young Warriors and South Africa’s under-23 played to a 1-1 draw in an exciting Confederation of African Football Under-23 Championships third round of the first leg qualifier strongly contested at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

South Africa scored first through Keagan Dolly in 66th minute before their Zimbabwe Warriors counterpart hit back through Walter Musona from a penalty spot kick following an Amagluglug defender had handled the ball from pressure.

Both sides created numerous scoring chances with Kuda Mahachi missing a number of opportunities.

On the other hand, South African under-23 blew easy scoring opportunities in the first half when chief culprits Siphelele Ntshangase and Siphiwe Khambule could not convert when it appeared simple to score from close range.

However, the two neighbouring nations will square off in the final leg of the qualifying round in Johannesburg on the weekend of 31 July-2 August.

A sizeable crowd attended the encounter to witness this thrilling football rivalry encounter between the two southern African nations.
