JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THE draw for the next round of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Nations Championship (CHAN) has been conducted.
A number of potentially exciting matches are on the cards with 2014 semifinalists Zimbabwe hoping to continue their dominance over Lesotho in Harare.
Last year’s hosts, South Africa are scheduled to play Angola with the first leg slated for Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit while Zambia plays Mozambique.
In West Africa, the continent’s footballing superpower-houses Ghana will host Ivory Coast in Accra while Nigeria clash with old rivals Burkina Faso in Lagos.
Mali entertain Mauritania in another encounter while Guinea and Senegal will fight it out in Guinea while Niger host Togo in Niamey.
In other crucial CHAN matches, Democratic Republic of Congo host Central Africa Republic in Kinshasa, Cameroon entertain Congo Brazzaville in
Chad and Gabon complete the clashes for central Africa.
In East Africa, Uganda entertain neighbouring Sudan in Kampala while political unstable Burundi hosts Ethiopia in Bujumbura.
All matches take place on October 17.
The return legs are scheduled for October 23.
The winning nations will progress to the CHAN finals Rwanda will host.
Libya are the defending champions.
