JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – SOUTH African Police Service (SAPS) have deployed a team of detectives to arrest suspects that robbed a Nigerian delegate attending the upcoming 25th African Union (AU) Summit.

On Wednesday, bogus police officers robbed the delegate, Gabriel Gundo (55), of US$5 000 US Dollars and R700 while travelling with his driver from the Oliver Reginald Tambo International Airport to Sandton in Johannesburg.

The suspects were said to be driving a Hyundai sedan with unknown registration numbers.

“Suspects posing as police officers stopped them and demanded money. After the robbery they drove away. Police have launched a manhunt for them,” Lieutenant Colonel Dlamini, South African Police Services Provincial (Gauteng) Spokesperson, stated.
