NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – KENYA’S Mercy Cherono and Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba are tipped to dominate the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships.

The event is slated for Beijing, China on 22-30 August.

Cherono’s preparations progressed well as she last week won the 5 000 National Police Service athletics Championships at Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani in her home country.

While Cherono boasts international accolades such as the Commonwealth Games and IAAF Diamond League Championship, her Ethiopian rival also boasts the 3 000m world Indoor record smashed at the XL-Galan in the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm and the 5 000m at the 2015 IAAF Diamond League meeting in Eugene in recent months.

Dibaba was also voted the Laureus World Woman Sports of the year, a development that makes the Beijing championship one to look out for.
