Football in panic as Blatter resigns

Joseph Sepp Blatter

FIFA President Joseph Sepp Blatter resigned on Tuesday

Sports Reporter
ZURICH, (CAJ News) – FIFA President Joseph Sepp Blatter resigned on Tuesday barely five days he was re-elected the soccer governing boss.

In a televised press conference, Blatter, could not detail reasons for his resignation, but maintained “FIFA has been my life”.

It is believed wide lobbying by his rival, Jordan’s Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, who last week withdrew after losing dismally in the first round of FIFA polls is on.

“An extraordinary congress is to be called to elect my successor as soon as possible,” said Blatter.

Blatter’s resignation follows massive raids at the organisation’s headquarters by America’s Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) for corruption charges.
