Zim Warriors open COSAFA with a win

RUSTENBURG, (CAJ News) – ZIMBABWE’S Warriors beat Mauritius 2-0 in the COSAFA opening match played at Moruleng Stadium in Rustenburg, South Africa on Sunday.
Two superb goals from Carlos Rusere and Ronald Chitiyo were enough to see the four-time Cosafa champions make an impression in this year’s tournament.
Had it not for the third goal disallowed, Zimbabwe could have won the match 3-0, but the match official waved play on after a Mauritius defender had cleared the ball when it had crossed the line.
However, Mauritius goalkeeper Kevin Jean-Louis’ acrobatic saves kept the islanders from an embarrassing defeat in the hands of marauding Warriors, who attacked left, right and centre.
The Callisto Pasuwa coached Warriors showed composure and seriousness in their brand of football attack.
Meanwhile, Seychelles held favourites Namibia to a goalless draw in another match played at the same venue.
