Ajax, Downs to end Premiership campaign

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – AJAX Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns will bring the curtain down in what has been an eventful 2014/15 season when they contest the final of the Nedbank Cup on Saturday.
The match slated for the historic Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, officially brings to an end the season, which this past weekend saw the crowning of Kaizer Chiefs as the Premiership champions and the relegation of Amazulu.
The final is the rematch of the 2007 decider, then called the Absa Cup, when the Cape Town side shocked their more illustrious rivals 2-0.
The match on Saturday then presents the Pretoria side to exert revenge as well as end the season on a high after Chiefs deposed them as champions, finishing second.
On the other hand Ajax, who finished credible fifth, would be determined to garner another final win over Downs and put the cherry on top of what has been an encouraging campaign.
Sundowns, who might field Zambian Kennedy Mweene in goal, are set to unleash the free-scoring Cuthbert Malajila, Khama Billiart, Teko Modise, Hlompho Kekana and Bongani Zungu while Ajax, popularly known as the Urban Warriors, teems with its own selection of top talent that can run down any opposition when on song.
Among these are Tashreeq Morris, Franklyn Cale, Toriq Losper, Keegan Dolly, Bantu Mzwakali and Keegan Dolly.
Annsi Jaakkola is calming influence in goal.
The winners of the Nedbank Cup will pocket R7 million while the runners-up will bank R2,5 million.
There is the added bonus of participating in the CAF Confederations Cup.
However, Ajax have secured that berth without kicking a ball as Sundowns, by finishing second in the league, will play in the more lucrative Champions League.
