SA load shedding unlikely as system stabilises

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – ESKOM has ruled out any load shedding for most of Wednesday following the stabilising of the power system.

“Eskom would like to inform the public that it does not anticipate that there will be load shedding for most of today, 06 May 2015, as there is currently enough electricity generating capacity to meet demand,” the power utility stated.

The improving system has seen the occurrence of load shedding drop to 6 percent over the past week.

“In the past seven days (168 hours), Eskom has only had to load shed for about 10 hours and 47 minutes,” Eskom stated.

However, while the power system is stable at present it is expected to be constrained during the evening peak period (5pm – 9pm).

“Eskom will keep you (media) updated on the state of the power system and advise the public accordingly should the need to load shed in the evening arise. We would like to thank all electricity users for responding to our message to save.”
