Absa Premiership draws to tense conclusion

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THE curtain comes down the Absa Premier Soccer League (PSL) this weekend with ties that will determine the team that finishes second as well as the side that will be relegated.
The team that finished 15th and qualifies for the playoffs will also be determined.
To kick start the action, on Wednesday, newly crowned champions Kaizer Chiefs will host second-spot chasing Bidvest Wits at FNB Stadium.
Elsewhere on Wednesday, University of Pretoria will host relegation-bound AmaZulu at Tuks Stadium while rejuvenated Ajax Cape Town entertains Moroka Swallows at Athlone Stadium in Cape Tow.
A victory for Moroka Swallows could guarantee them safety of relegation while a loss will threaten their survival chances.
In Pretoria, a derby between SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns will be on cards at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Sundowns are chasing second spot while Supersport are battling to finish in the top eight.
In Rustenburg, Platinum Stars host Polokwane City at Royal Bafokeng Stadium while Bloemfontein Celtic will battle it out with Free State Stars in a derby at Free State Stadium.
In Mpumalanga, Black Aces entertain Chippa United at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit while newly-transformed Maritzburg United host resurgent Orlando Pirates at Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg to wrap up midweek fixtures.
The final Absa games will be on Saturday with Sundowns playing University of Pretoria at Lucas Moripe Stadium in another derby encounter.
Chiefs will then wrap up the season with an away tie against relegation-threatened Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
Swallows host Bloemfontein Celtic at Dobsonville Stadium while Ajax clash with Orlando Pirates at Cape Town Stadium.
Elsewhere, Free State Stars will entertain Black Aces at Goble Park as AmaZulu end the season with a KwaZulu-Natal derby against Maritzburg United at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Wits will host Platinum Stars at Bidvest Stadium in Braamfontein in the former’s bid to finish second.
Polokwane wrap their league with a tough assignment against SuperSport at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
