ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Nigeria military said it had rescued 200 girls and 93 women from Sambisa forest, a stronghold of the Boko Haram.

The Director of Defence Information, Major-General Chris Olukolade, disclosed this in a brief statement he made available late Tuesday.

He said the military could not confirm if the girls rescued are those kidnapped in Chibok last year.

“Troops this (Tuesday) afternoon rescued 200 girls and 93 women from Sambisa Forest. We cannot confirm if the Chibok girls are in this group,” Olukolade said.

He added that the troops captured and destroyed three terrorists camps including the notorious Tokumbere camp located in the Sambisa forest during the operation.

Olukolade said the free persons are now being screened and detail will be provided later.
