Nedbank Cup

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – AFTER relinquishing the league title on Wednesday, Mamelodi Sundowns have set their sights on the Nedbank Cup to make up for the disappointment.

They play first division side, Vasco da Gama, in a David-versus-Goliath semifinal this coming weekend, days after Kaizer Chiefs dethroned them.
Chiefs reclaimed the Absa Premiership championship on Wednesday night after beating Polokwane City City 4-1.

Sundowns could only manage a one-all draw against Platinum Stars.

With Chiefs securing the league and MTN8, the Nedbank Cup is the only trophy left to fight for.

While they are favourites in the tournament, Downs must not underestimate Vasco da Gama.

The can do so at their own peril as the only first division side left in the tournament, looks eager to upset their Premiership counterparts.

The Capetonians have struck the rich vein of form in this tournament.

In an other semi-final, Ajax Cape Town host Supersport United on Saturday at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
