JOHHANESBURG, (CAJ News) – KAIZER Chiefs are likely to be confirmed new Absa Premiership champions after the match against visiting Polokwane City at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening.

On the other hand, defending champions and close rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns, will be battling it out with Platinum Stars at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria in a bid to deny Chiefs glory.

Both matches kick-off at 1930 hours.

Chiefs, with 60 points from 26 games played, lead second placed Sundowns with 13 points from 25 matches.

The Soweto giants need three points in their remaining four games to be confirmed the new Premiership champions.

Although the Premier Soccer League (PSL) CEO Brand de Villiers confirmed that the Absa trophy would be handed to the champions on the last weekend, any victory for Amakhosi tonight would have sealed their championship ticket.

The PSL has lined up these two matches for Wednesday with Sundowns expected to give much attention to the remaining Nedbank Cup as their consolation trophy if they lose the title to Chiefs.
