Eskom stops load shedding

Load shedding

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THERE has been a huge sigh of relief after Eskom announced it had shelved load shedding.

The power utility stopped stage 2 load shedding at about 2200hours on Sunday but noting that restoration of power takes longer in some areas.

However, the electricity supply system remains vulnerable for the rest of the week due to a shortage of generation capacity as several units are currently out of service due to planned and unplanned outages.

“Any unforeseen incident in the power system could thus trigger the implementation of load shedding,” the firm said in a statement.

It apologised for the inconvenience to affected customers and thanked all electricity users for responding to messages to save.

“Every little bit of saving counts in minimising the severity of load shedding.”

Eskom calls on all customers to reduce the load on the electricity grid by switching off geysers, air conditioners, pool pumps and all non-essential appliances throughout the day, which will reduce electricity demand.
