ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Nigeria military has confirmed the capturing of troubled Gwoza town, the last terrorist base in Borno State.

According to Defense Headquarters in Abuja, several terrorists were killed and many others were captured in the operation.

It added that mopping up of the area and the entire surrounding is ongoing.

“Troops this morning captured Gwoza destroying the Headquarters of the Terrorists’ self-styled Caliphate,” read a statement to CAJ News.

“Several terrorists died while many are captured. Mopping up of entire Gwoza and her suburbs is ongoing,” the Defense Headquarters said.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday had assured that Gwoza – the last town under control of the Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State would be liberated by Friday to pave way for the successful conduct of general elections in all states of the federation.
