Air Force intensifies anti-terror operations in Borno, Yobe

LAGOS, (CAJ News) – THE Defence Forces confirmed the Air Force was continuing efforts to pound terrorists’ hideouts in some locations in Yobe and Borno States as part of ongoing campaign against the Boko Haram insurgents.

“Several sorties are being flown either in conjunction with ongoing ground assault by troops or to dislodge any concentration of terrorists as follow up to intelligence reports,” Major General Chris Olukalade, Director Defence Information, said.

He added simultaneous mopping up operations were also ongoing in the areas already operated upon by Nigerian Air Force had already been mopped up.

The air Force operations follow recent successes the military has recorded over the Islamist militant group, whose activities have led to the deaths of thousands and displacement of more than 1 million locals.
